 SPRING 2020 ETA 12-SESSION PROGRAM (2006,07,08 and 09 PLAYERS)

As Return to Play continues to play out and with the State Authorities providing more information pertaining to May 31st and beyond, we now feel we are in a good place to provide you with an update as to how we intend to handle the outstanding portion of the Club ETA Spring 2020 program.

1. SPRING 2020 CLUB ETA PROGRAM (06,07,08 and 09 PLAYERS) 

The following schedule has been verified in order to finish out the 8 outstanding sessions that remain;

ACADEMY LEVEL

  • Dates: August 3rd - 7th (5 day camp)

  • Times: 8am - 10am each morning 

  • Location: Sting Soccer Complex - Richardson

  • Cost: $175 (includes camp t-shirt)

  • Open to any players born in 2016,15,14,13,12,11,10,09,08,07 (Boys and Girls - do not have to be Sting players)

  • Will be staffed by multiple Sting Soccer Staff Members

Summer ETA Camp serves as a supplementary opportunity for players to enhance their technical ability. The ETA program focuses on 3 key principles;

  1. Repetition - Maximum repetition with the technical focus for the day 

  2. Expert Instruction - Expert feedback and instruction from our staff to guide players to Improved execution and knowledge

  3. Inspiration - Through a fun, engaging, positive environment, players are motivated and inspired to spend more time with the ball outside of the organized environment working on their skills.

Sting Soccer Club proudly presents the “Emerging Talent Academy” (ETA). Sting’s Emerging Talent Academy is an exclusive program that serves to provide Sting Soccer Club Academy players with supplemental training to further enhance awareness and ability in several areas. Developed by our ETA committee, the program is an extension to the Sting Soccer Club curriculum. Players’ are further challenged to develop the technical and tactical expertise to succeed at the highest levels of play. The Fall 2019 Cycle will serve players born in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

ALL Academy Players are eligible to sign up: No Invitation needed!

Technique is the foundation of all elite level players and subsequently is the primary focus throughout the 4-phase curriculum. Phase 1 is the 2019 Summer Camp. Phase 2, an 8-session curriculum from September to December 2019. Phase 3 is the 2020 Winter Camp to be held in Jan 2020. Phase 4, an 8-week curriculum from Feb to May 2020. Periodically, alternative activities may be provided such as classroom sessions, gym sessions or visits to live soccer games locally. Utilization of research in sports psychology, nutrition, fitness & physical enhancement, sports science and match analysis will drive development in an holistic fashion to better prepare players for the demands of the game at the highest levels of play. 

The ETA is an elite environment that strives to prepare players for the demands of select soccer. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory and an adherence to a strict code of conduct absolutely necessary. Parents are exempt from observing from close proximity during field sessions. Failure to comply will result in immediate exclusion from the program.

What is the Emerging Talent Academy (ETA)?
 

The Emerging Talent Academy for U5 - U10 age groups is a supplemental training program to further enhance awareness and ability in several areas. All academy aged (U5-U10)  players are invited to sign up - It is open to all! Developed by our ETA committee, the program is an extension of the Sting Soccer Club curriculum. The program is inclusive of 8 on-field training sessions at a cost of $200. There are two academy programs, one is located at the Sting Dallas Complex, the second is held at the PIT Frisco complex (pending weather / availability.) When registering, please select the location of your choice (Sting Dallas Complex or PIT Frisco). A detailed schedule for the upcoming / current cycle is outlined above.

 

 Who is it for?

 

All academy aged (U5-U10) players (boys and girls) are invited to sign up - It is open to all! No invitation is necessary.

 

What does the program focus on / include?

Players’ are further challenged to develop the technical and tactical expertise necessary for a successful transition into the higher levels of play. Repetition and teaching is highly weighted in favor of technical /tactical development. Our highly trained staff work to promote excellence with individual ball mastery, dribbling, running with the ball, turning and 1v1 attack/defense.

 

Who will coach my player?

The program will be staffed from session to session by a variety on Sting Soccer Club coaching staff. You can expect to receive instruction from the following staff members throughout the course of the program (to name a few!)

What are the benefits of being involved?

Aside from the obvious benefits such as improvements in playing ability through expert teaching and added repetition, other benefits include:

- Player Identification: Coaching staff are able to better engage in player identification for potential selection to ECNL and National Team Programs / Pathways in future years

- Club Culture: Players are able to engage with various staff members and players from other teams within the Sting organization. An opportunity for players to take advantage of a vast knowledge and experience amongst the training staff. Whilst also, engaging with other players who may in the long term become a teammate and friend!

- Club Philosophy: Players are further taught foundational techniques, terminology and principles of play that align with the clubs vision and philosophy. Transition to the higher levels of play within the organization becomes much more ‘fluid’ - further enhancing the ability for success / impact.

- Accelerated Individual Development: ETA has zero focus on team preparation for weekend games or team tactics. The program focuses only on individual technical development through maximum meaningful repetition throughout each and every session.

Players’ are further challenged to develop the technical and tactical expertise to succeed at the highest levels of play. The 2018-19 Cycle will serve players born in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

The ETA for ‘select’ age players runs in four ‘phases’ across a calendar year. Phase 1 is the 2018 Summer Camp. Phase 2, a 12-session curriculum from September to December 2018. Phase 3 is the 2019 Winter Camp to be held in Jan 2019. Phase 4, a 12-week curriculum from Feb to May 2019. Our goal is to provide a progressive curriculum to facilitate ‘easy learning.’  Periodically, alternative activities may be provided such as classroom sessions, gym sessions or visits to live soccer games locally. Utilization of research in sports psychology, nutrition, fitness & physical enhancement, sports science and match analysis will drive development in an holistic fashion to better prepare players for the demands of the game at the highest levels of play.

Performance, attendance and application will be continually reviewed in order to maintain the highest caliber of environment possible. The ETA operates on an invitation only policy. Invited players will receive an invitation packet via email. Invitations will go out prior to the program commencing or during the program with evaluation on going. The ETA director is responsible for all program oversight and management. Players are consistently evaluated throughout the year.

Who is it for?

Club aged (U11-U14) players who are invited to sign up via a personal invitation from the club. It is not open to all players. An invitation must be received.

 

Selection Criteria

Players are invited into the program via the following pathways:​​

  • ETA ID Camp Attendance & Performance: Staff will evaluate player performance at camps (Summer & Winter) prior to Fall and Winter "cycles"

  • Coach Recommendation: Your team coach submits a recommendation to the club for selection based on outstanding commitment, attitude and performance

  • Director Identification: Sting’s Director staff have identified you based on performance at a game / training session

  • Player must be a Sting Soccer Club registered player to participate

  • Player must maintain an 80% minimum attendance to all team and club related activities

Our Austin ETA Program and Summer Camp are open to all players regardless of soccer club affiliation. However, If you play for a club that is part of the USC Champion's League and are NOT a Sting Austin player, you must have permission from your coach to attend.
