FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Sting Soccer and Titans Fútbol Club head south to Corpus Christi

Dallas, Texas - April 27, 2017 - In true pioneering fashion, the Sting Soccer Organization and Titans Fútbol Club have expanded further into South Texas to Corpus Christi in partnership with one of the largest clubs in the area, FC Padre. The announcement comes on the heels of opening another new San Antonio Division (San Antonio Schertz Division), and the North Austin Division receiving acceptance into the prestigious Elite Clubs National League (ECNL), and promises to round out a rapidly expanding Sting and Titans South Texas Program. The new Sting and Titans Corpus Christi Divisions will be anchored at the Bill Witt Soccer Complex, and will provide Coastal Bend players the opportunity to participate in the Sting and Titans programs that have enjoyed unprecedented success at every level of the game.

Recognizing the need to provide Coastal Bend area players with a successful and proven developmental program with Sting and Titans, FC Padre boys' and girls' teams U11 and above, competing in higher play leagues such as Alpha and above, will join the new Sting and Titans Corpus Christi Divisions. At the youngest ages, U6-U10, interested players from FC Padre's Junior Academy will have the opportunity to move into the Sting and Titan's Academy program, an elite Academy program for younger players looking to accelerate their development and take their game to the next level. FC Padre will focus on recreational programs for area soccer players to continue to develop and grow, and Sting and Titans will work closely with FC Padre to enrich those recreational programs through coaching education and player development initiatives.

The move promises a chance to compete on the national stage for many talented area soccer players, with access to roster opportunities with the Sting North Austin ECNL program, and opportunities to participate in one of the top programs in the country for developing collegiate scholarship athletes, All-Americans, Professional and National Team players. Implementing a proprietary, age specific curriculum focused on developing players to succeed at the college game and beyond, Sting and Titans Corpus Christi will implement a comprehensive competitive program for area soccer players to take their game to the next level.

Sting and Titans Corpus Christi will bring on Tony McKernan and Anne Houliston to head up the new divisions in leadership roles, and will look to build a staff that will have access to a proven developmental model at all ages. Tony began his soccer journey playing the game in England, and then later in the United States, and has been coaching since the mid-1980s. His experience, coupled with his exposure to the higher levels of the game through his involvement with the South Texas Olympic Development Program and coaching age groups considered for the Region III pool of players, are a natural fit for implementing an elite area soccer program. Anne Houliston is originally from Scotland where she grew up playing soccer from the age of four years old.  She represented her country on the Scottish National Team and competed in three different European Championships.  She originally came to America on a soccer scholarship to play in college and has continued working in soccer ever since.  Anne has had several stops along the way including Kentucky, Florida, Indiana & Michigan before finding herself in Corpus Christi.  She has coached at the youth level in Florida for Indian River Soccer Association and collegiately at the Division 1 level for the past 6 years at three different programs; Murray State, Central Michigan University and most recently Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. As a collegiate All-American, Anne understands what it takes to compete in the game at the next level, and she will be an integral part of developing Sting and Titans players so that they have the chance to do the same.

With a proven pathway to excellence, a strong local partnership with the FC Padre recreational program, and a 12 full-size field facility, the stage is set to provide Corpus Christi area soccer players with the opportunity to experience the game on a whole new level with Sting Soccer and Titans FC.
