Sting Blue ’97 recently traveled to Austin and won the AU Capital Cup’s U13 Gold Division. The team went undefeated in group play with two wins and one tie. They opened the tournament with a dominant performance against Revolution ’97 Black, winning 3-0. Sting Blue ’97 came out strong again in their second match against Dallas Texans Red ’97, where they came out on top of a well-played 2-0 decision. All the team needed in its third game was a tie to advance to the Finals. And that’s just what they got with 0-0 draw against AU Capitals ’97 Caps. The finals provided a similar storyline as the rest of the tournament for the Sting Blue ’97 team—stellar defense and timely scoring, which led to a 2-0 victory over Solar ’97 in the Championship match. The team ended the tournament scoring seven goals in four games and not yielding a single goal to any of its opponents.
