Sting ’97 Blue had a great showing over the weekend winning the TFC Blue Cup. With stellar defense and timely offense Sting opened the tournament with a hard fought 1-0 win over FC Dallas Youth ’97 Black. In their second match of the tournament, Sting ’97 Blue defeated XCELEX ’97 in a tightly contested match-up  between the teams, 2-1. In their third match of the tournament, Sting found itself in a defensive struggle against TFC ’97. At the end of regulation, neither team was able to find the back of the net as the match ended in a 0-0 draw. With two wins and a draw in bracket play, Sting advanced to the semifinals as the first placed seed out of the bracket. In its semifinal match, Sting ’97 Blue faced TFC ’97 Blue, a team that had gone 1-1-1 through bracket play. Sting played hard from start to finish and it reflected on the scoreboard as Sting ’97 Blue won 3-1 and advanced to the championship match.

The Championship was a rematch of the opening game of the tournament as Sting ’97 Blue went up against FC Dallas Youth ’97 Black.  The match proved to be much like the first as Sting ’97 Blue again triumphed, winning 2-0 and was crowned TFC Blue Cup Champions.
