The Sting Youth Soccer School (SYSS) is program that will begin in the East Texas (Tyler/Longview) area starting in August of 2008. The Sting Youth Soccer School promises to change the framework and structure of soccer in East Texas in a way that truly benefits all players. The goal is to provide the opportunity for all player’s to train in an environment that fits their skill level and fosters a learning environment where they are able to improve.  The idea is to provide quality training once per week to supplement recreational programs and provide a total soccer experience for players in the area without ever having to travel to surrounding areas to experience that quality training environment.

The Sting East Texas club coaches will be integrally involved in the SYSS, providing top quality training for the players’ and also providing coaching education for area coaches interested in expanding their knowledge base.  Competitive players from the Sting East Texas club will train within the SYSS once per week along with the recreational players, providing the opportunity to develop not only through quality coaching, but also through quality competition and a higher level training environment.

How it works?

- The SYSS provides training and game playing opportunities for all U11 to U19 players.

- The SYSS does not encourage, endorse or promote out of town travel (outside of East Texas) for any player
- All SYSS sessions will provide training within the US Soccer Youth philosophy of soccer.
- All participants will receive the same SYSS training uniform.  - The SYSS allows recreational and competitive players to train together once per week.
- The SYSS training sessions will be standardized for all participants within an age group and will include one full-length game.
- The SYSS training sessions will occur once per week for all players and will alternate locations weekly/twice a month/or every other month between Longview and Tyler soccer fields as needed.
- The SYSS will operate 9 months out of the year.
            FALL– August, September, October, November
SPRING– February, March, April, May and June
- The SYSS will employ highly qualified coaches to direct all SYSS training sessions.
- The ideal SYSS player to coach ratio is 10:1.
- All players’ technical and tactical development is systematically tracked throughout the year.

How it works? (Competitive/Club Players)

-The SYSS allows players to continue playing on their competitive teams (U11-U19).

-Competitive players train with their teams once a week, play with their league games once a week, and train/play within SYSS once a week.  The coach of the competitive team can also schedule an additional team training session per week.

-The SYSS will not replace any competitive “team” games.

-Competitive (club) players will be required to participate.

- The SYSS allows players to continue playing on their recreational  teams (U11-U19)
